Jason Lichter is a Principal with Troutman Pepper eMerge, the firm's dedicated eDiscovery and data analysis subsidiary. A software engineer turned litigator, Jason brings a singular combination of real-world legal experience and hands-on technical expertise to each eDiscovery and information governance engagement. A staunch advocate of continuous process improvement and innovative legal service delivery, Jason advises colleagues and clients on how to deploy the latest technologies and best practices to efficiently guide matters from pre-litigation information governance through the entire eDiscovery lifecycle. In doing so, Jason leverages well-honed skills in legal project management, statistical analysis, and machine learning to promote efficiency, mitigate risk, maintain accuracy, and stay under budget. Jason advocates for clients before special masters and regulators, during meet-and-confers, and in written submissions. His strong technical background includes substantial computer science coursework while an undergraduate at Yale University, followed by experience as a software engineer for Sapient, a technology services consultancy, before attending Harvard Law School. As a member of Troutman's Innovation Committee and a leader of the firm’s Generative AI Task Force, Jason has helped to steer the firm's internal and client-facing strategy around responsible use of AI.
