Jeff Young is a litigator and large project infrastructure with 30 years of experience building projects and solving disputes around the world. He has:
a. Been the lead lawyer for Hitachi's (formerly ABB) project businesses in the U.S. since 2010, negotiating successfully and "minding" to execution several billion dollars worth of renewable energy projects, including SunZia, Champlain Hudson Power Express and many others.
b. Prior to that, he maintained an active litigation and dispute resolution practice, skills he developed during 16 years as a trial lawyer at Moore & Van Allen's Raleigh, NC office. He has tried cases as diverse as ones involving the 10 Commandments on a courthouse wall to how fast you can haul dirt on the Azores in the rainy season. His appellate work includes the leading Fourth Circuit opinion on Carmack Amendment rail damage claims, and precedent setting decisions on real property rights, the enforceability of arbitration clauses and many other matters. He's taken and defended hundreds of depositions and mediated over 100 cases -- and is a firm believer in the mediation process.
c. He has defended Epic Games against a patent infringement claim, pursued Microsoft for trademark infringement and represented musical artists of various genres in all aspects of their work.
d. He has handled cases with local counsel in Argentina, Canada, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
